TYPES OF TOWBARS
If you haven’t been towing before, it can be confusing to know which type of towbar you will need for your vehicle. The type you need depends on various factors. These include how often you will use the towbar, what you will need to tow and what type of car you drive.
There are 4 different types of towbars:
Fixed Fange towbar – Attached to the towbar frame by 2 bolts, essential if fitting Ball and Pins or bumper protection plates.
Fixed Swanneck towbar – This type of bar is used in conjunction with Alko hitches and cycle carriers .
Detachable towbars – These are more expensive, but they can be stowed away when not being used and will not interfere with rear parking sensors when removed.
Retractable towbars - The newest type of towbar this retracts behind the bumper when not in use.

DUAL CONTROLS
In addition to towbars we also fit dual control systems. Dual controls enable a passenger (usually a driving instructor) to take control of the car if necessary. Automatic cars have just the brake pedal as a dual control, but a manual car has a dual brake and clutch pedal.
We can supply dual controls for all types of cars that are popular with driving schools.
If a specific dual control mechanism isn’t already available, we may be able to configure another system to fit your vehicle.

PARKING SENSOR FITTING
At S & B Towbars, we also install parking sensors. Parking spaces are becoming harder to find and the available spaces are becoming smaller. Having parking sensors will eliminate the guesswork when parking your vehicle, making it a far less stressful experience.
A sensor could also save you money on expensive repair bills, as you can easily avoid damaging your car as you squeeze into (and out of) a tight space. We drill the sensors into your bumper to make them as unobtrusive as possible and replicate a factory fit. We can also colour code them to match your vehicle.
